Any interest on money held by travel company’s

Last my holiday was cancelled due to covid and the travel company held my money on account. I rebooked the holiday for this year and again it has been cancelled. They have informed me my money will be held on account for twelve months and if I haven’t used it to book another Holiday then they will refund all the money in my account. I don’t mind this as I have a fund there ready to use.
My question is should they be paying me interest on the money they have of mine?

At todays rates I suppose you could ask for 0.1%

Not sure why you would leave your money with them for that long.  If they go under - and with current circumstances, some surely will - you become another creditor and will likely get nothing. I am all for a bit of forbearance, as Martin rightly says, but only when it doesn't put my funds at risk.  As for interest - in your situation where you have accepted them holding the money, no.  If you had decided that you were going to insist on a refund, as I did last year - successfully - moneyclaim online allows you to claim interest at quite a reasonable rate (it was 8% when I  threatened the company concerned).  I've not checked the current rate.

Why not just ask for a refund?
