SOLVED. What position should gate valve be open on hot water tank?

Glad it's sorted, just a couple of points, the gate valve under the heating valve doesn't need to be there & serves no purpose, with regard to Edit 2 all heating systems require balancing which is why you have a locksheild valve on one end of the rad, so in that regard your London contact doesn't know what he's talking aboutI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
