Hi
I got a quote from Everest for a bay window replacing - made up of three separate sash windows. The windows are quite tall, over 2 metres.
The quote with timber frames was nearly £12k, and about £7k for uPVC.  I expected it to be expensive, but not that expensive!  I've done a couple of online quotes and for uPVC and they've come out around £3k, which is more what I was expecting, but don't know how accurate these are.  Do I need to adjust my expectations?  I am getting a quote from a local firm next week so hoping that's lower than Everest's.

Not a fan of the national window companies myself.  I always go local.  I paid £1500 for 2 upvc sashes however they were smaller and the actual timber sash box wasn't taken out, the new upvc sash window was just put inside.  UPVC sashes are great, but do wish we'd got the whole sash box replaced  - didn't realise until afterwards.  If you get at least 3 quotes then you can be rest assured that you will be paying a reasonable price.

If what you had were up n down sliding sash placed into the original box in upvc isn't bad for up n down sliders , easy work for the fitters but an expensive item to buy . If you had casement normal openers made to look like sliders (50/50 split) over priced by about 500 . OP stay clear from Everest for price and quality . Over priced and living on the name from years gone by . They've since gone bust and restarted everest2020 . still pressure sales and will sell their granny to get a job . Might be your granny they rip off next . recently fitted a job where Everest quoted £25000 for 12 windows after their discount !!! . I did them for 5800 and still made a faor bit , they did ring back and lowered their quote to 9500 . shows you their standards right there and then if they can knock off 15k . If you go with Everest you are not paying a reasonable price . If you get anyone else around to quote don't say you've contacted Everest .
