Requesting payments after Iva settled

  • Yesterday I told the lady dealing with my IVA over email that I wasn’t happy that they were requesting more money from me and forwarded her the emails that I’d sent 2 years ago. I’ve not heard anything back as of yet. But I’ve had a notification this morning to say it’s now being removed from my credit file which is sooner than the 6 years it stays on for. I wonder if they’ve realised I could complain and removed it?
how much debt usually does someone have to have an IVA?

Its not just the amount of debt, people usually go for an IVA if bankrputcy would impact on their jobs or if they have assets such as property to protect.  Your £4k could have been managed with a DMP or if that would have lasted forever possibly a DRO.  Whats done is done I guess, its just sad to see many people trapped in IVAs that they would never genuinely be advised to have.

IVA`s were designed for people with assets, such as a house, who had massive debts, 30/40/100k upwards, and could not go bankrupt.

Although there are no upper or lower limits, the arrangement is only beneficial if your debt is relatively high, and your income quite low, the fee`s you have to pay can also be quite high, for debts under 20k, there are better solutions.

Most reputable IP`s won`t sanction an IVA below 15k, however its a big ocean, and there are lots of sharks wanting your cash, you have to be so careful, and you must do your research beforehand.

Many of these arrangements are mis-sold.

I wish I’d known all of this beforehand. But I was young and naive and what’s done is done.
What is odd though, is now that I’ve emailed her back to tell her I’m not happy and I would like to complain after forwarding her evidence that I did in fact send them my payslips despite not being able to speak directly with them, she hasn’t been back in touch with me. I’ve also had a notification that the IVA is being removed from my credit report which it’s not due to come off for another 8 months.
I wonder if they’re just going to try get rid of it so I can’t complain (Citizens advice have also told me to complain) or I just won’t hear from them for months and months again and they’ll pop up out of nowhere again.

It does sound as if they have realised they could be in big trouble.  Just because they remove it from your credit report doesn't mean you can't still make a complaint.  Why not write up a list of what happened and when right from the start to now and take it from there.
