Thanks olgadapolga, yes it was a huge relief.
Sorry to hear you had a run of INR's with RM, yes it is so bad about how many people are losing out due to RM poor service at this time. Were the items ever delivered after you had refunded? Or did any buyers send the item back to you (if they had been refunded)?
Of the 2 parcels that were debatable with Hermes...what the did tracking say? As i thought Hermes gave more detailed tracking so less chance for people trying it on or am i mistaken? Good they did pay out though.0 -
Haha Rantband...yes you are right...i did load the tracking though. I don't really sell much, the odd thing here and there so it did seem a big deal to me as i've never had that situation before. But next time IF that happens...for sure i'll be more 'cool'.0

The RM ones apparent never arrived. No tracking as they were cheap items. I didn't bother claiming from RM as trying to find the paperwork wasn't worth the effort of the value of the claim.wishuponastar said:Thanks olgadapolga, yes it was a huge relief.

Hermes do track it every step of the way but problems do occur where humans are involved.
With the Hermes claims, the tracking showed that one parcel never moved after being dropped off at the parcel shop and two 'vanished' from outside the recipients' homes. Hermes did not have the required photographs for proof of delivery but we had to get the recipients to complete forms stating that they had not received the parcels.
Hermes paid out for all of the claims. Their claim form is really easy as well as it's online and the only proof of item value required is the eBay item number.2 -
Glad your buyer got their parcel OP. Have to say that, touch wood, the service from Royal Mail has been excellent as it always it.
We've had a couple of very delayed parcels (3 weeks for 2nd class) but they were posted either just before Christmas or the first working day after the New Year when issues are more likely.
If you want a better chance of safer and faster delivery you can use Royal Mail tracked, £4.76 for a 48 small parcel under 2kg, a bit more for 24.
Hermes will depend upon the person doing the last bit of the job and delivering to the buyer's door, some a great, some are not, Royal Mail typically seems to be more consistent.
I don't trust INRs where there isn't any tracking as being the fault of the post, based on experience, most are dishonest claims. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces1 -
Prior to these delays due to corona i've always thought RM were quite good. The delivery confirmation did update on the day it was delivered so that is good even if first class it took from Monday to Saturday to arrive it is better than 3 weeks for 2nd class or as some are experiencing on the thread that talks about the RM delays.
What do you mean you don't trust INRs where there isn't tracking as being fault of post? Do you mean that when the 'delivery confirmation' or tracking isn't updated as delivered and the person claims not received?
I've got a small parcel to send, value less than £20, just under 2kg. It's not breakable or easily damaged but i'm just wondering what the differences are with the RM tracked service that you mention? For 2nd class i get a price of £4.20 (same as Hermes) for the tracked service but i don't really know the difference because it says it is signed for (but the deliverers are signing for it themselves due to corona).
Is that more reliable / worth paying the extra £1 difference for if it is more or less the same service as the delivery confirmation service at £3.20 (or 1st class £5.57). As Hermes are now saying delays too due to weather...so wondering which one to choose but just need to know if people are finding any difference between the two services from RM. Because if not then then i'm thinking i might as well send by the regular small parcel service as there isn't a print in store facility that near to me given the Hermes price is the same anyway.0 -
Signed For ... eh, it means you should definitely get delivery confirmation when it's delivered. Standard parcel means you will most likely get delivery confirmation when it's delivered, but very occasionally it might not get scanned (perhaps if it's in a bundle with a lot of other post for the same address, maybe).wishuponastar said:Prior to these delays due to corona i've always thought RM were quite good. Personally I've only used Signed For if I needed the higher insurance, or for letters for which I needed delivery confirmation.1
