My dog acts up when I am on the phone

This might sound daft, but I'm basing it on a FB post I just saw: a dog transfixed (if not traumatised) by squirrels on the TV. Does your dog like watching TV? Would he settle down if there was something on, sound down of course ...

This certainly works on my cats! There's loads of YouTube videos of '8 hour birds for cats' or similar that they watch for a bit most days. I find the chirping and fluttering quite relaxing too.

My last dog would sometimes watch TV when I got him from the dogs' home, but after a few months I think he realised it was not real and just ignored it, but not completely.   Strangely, right up until he became a very old dog he was fascinated by two people fighting on TV.  When a boxing match, an Erol Flynn style sword fight or a fight over the loot between two bank robbers would come on the box, he never failed  to pick up his ears and then you would see his head darting about as he followed the action.
