Coverwise Insurance : WARNING

I have just noticed that Coverwise are still being ‘promoted’ on the Travel Insurance section on MSE.
A word of warning. They may give reasonable quotes and have lovely staff ( especially when taking out a policy ) but they are underwritten by AXA. They will do anything to reject a genuine claim.
Have a look at Coverwise on Trustpilot. The amount of negative feedback of late is indicative of the service you get when you submit a claim.

You’re lucky. There’s many of us out of pocket.
Personally I’m £1100 down. AXA blaming airline. Airline blaming AXA neither admitting fault. Coverwise no help whatsoever.

Made a couple of claims on Axa travel insurance, though via a different intermediary, and both were settled both quickly and fairly.

Unfortunately very few people take the time and effort to leave positive reviews on things like distress commoditized purchases and therefore almost every insurer and intermediary would appear terrible if you look them up online.

It may be better if you highlight your explicit issue in the Insurance section and people can potentially assist you on getting a better resolution or give a cold 3rd person view that perhaps one or the other companies are being reasonable.

Would you mind explaining the nature of the claim - more details would help ?

    Thanks for the replies.
Our claim is as follows : We booked two flights with Aer Lingus to USA for September 2020. Had an annual insurance policy with Coverwise. Covid arrives so no travel to USA.
Airline state flights still operating which they did. They are not liable so logical step was to contact insurance. Put a claim in with AXA. They also refused to payout saying airline has offered vouchers ( which I haven’t accepted ). Any advice will be gratefully received.

     Check your policy document.
    Does it say

Your policy will not cover you for costs where:

    1. You are legally entitled to a refund in the form of cash or voucher from your airline and/or travel provider.

Does anyone know whether "Admiral" Annual worldwide (exc. US, CA, Caribbean) Multi trips is a good insurance ?
Just notice their price is very competitive especially of you are their current customers (e.g have other product with them).
Its de faqto rating is mix. Good for platinum and Gold but not good for Standard.

have used Coverwise many times for travel insurance and whilst the prices are good there is a reason. Wo betide you if you make a claim! I claimed on 9/10/24. They will do all they can to delay a resolution and make it extremely difficult all along the way. Constantly ignoring information, requesting multiple times the same information. Taking ages to respond and have the nerve to blame it on high volumes of claims!!! Oh so that makes it ok does it. You pay. You claim but don’t expect a payout as we will wear you down eventually so you give up! Speak to us? No chance, put through to a heavily accented USA citizen who insists you are at fault! Was told by Bernard at AXA that even though I hadn’t been to see my doctor since 2012 before this incident I MUST provide 2 years past history!!! He was like a cracked record repeating this and would not listen when I explained how could I? I downloaded and sent the information from an active NHS account from the portal. It is clearly stated it will be accepted. The documentation sent frm the NHS portal shows quite clearly that i had not had any medical needs since 2012 until 2024!!! This is ignored and asked for again and again!! Awful Awful Awful..

I'm experiencing similar frustrations to septictank. My young son had a ear infection while abroad and we ended up visiting a private clinic for a prescription costing approx €400 (which is ridiculous I know).  I've had annual cover with Coverwise for some years now, pre-existing medical conditions properly disclosed.  After submitting the claim, they've asked me for five years' medical history, which I provided.  They then came back to me stating that they only accept documents in PDF format, so I spent ages converting all kinds file types seeming used by the NHS (jpeg, html, doc) documents to PDF files and respnded the same day.  The've now come back over a week later again saying that they will only accept one single PDF file.  So again, I've done what they asked.  Now just waiting for the next delay tactic from them.  It takes at least a week for each response from them.  They're probably going to ask for his school nurse records next.

What do the t&C's say about what to do if you need treatment?
Used to be that you had to call them and they would specify hospitals and surgeries, avoiding the private ones.

If you go to a private doctor here it can be £100 a visit. More or less depending
