Debit card refund

Hi
I was given a refund to my debit card. I have the card holder receipt, saying the refund was accepted. But 2 weeks later and no refund has been received.
The business are saying it was sent and my bank saying it was not.
What do I do?

Comments

  • Not sure what has happened, but I think they didn't action the information from the POS terminal. They took another payment when processing the refund and had to issue 2 refunds. I have all 3 POS receipts. Digging around the net, they have 8 weeks to action a POS instruction. So I knew there was a problem as a debit card payment is taken straight away.

Chargeback could be an option. But I don't have the original receipt and my bank stipulate lots of supporting documents which I don't have.
Do I just send a final letter before action?
  • More digging,

Apparently any POS transaction can be voided by the business before settlement takes place. Settlement is not instant.

Seems vindictive, but the refund was given after an acrimonious event, so it tallies.

Does anyone have experience with chargeback. Would the refund receipt be enough proof that I have contacted the company?

The question is 'Before you complete this form, you will need to have evidence that you have tried to resolve your dispute with the seller'

If you have a receipt stating refund was placed, so date, amount & last 4 of card. That is all the info required for a chargeback.

    How much is the refund?
