Hi we have a sited caravan and the yearly fee is due on the 1st of March at a cost of £2000 the owners have said this will still be due to be payed and if the site doesn’t open as it normally does on the 1st of March which it doesn’t look like it, no refunds will be given, the site fees are from 1-03-21 until 31-10-21. It could be closed due to lockdown for months surely this is not right any advice appreciated

Can you move the caravan somewhere else like your driveway to avoid paying to store it on the site?0

The fee is for renting the ground the van is on - regardless of if you can use it or not, your van is still taking up that space.

Maybe, maybe not - our site fees include facilities, such as golf, swimming, jacuzzi, spa, etc, etc, if you book a holiday there, you can buy a pass for the amenities for £100 + for the week.mattyprice4004 said:The fee is for renting the ground the van is on - regardless of if you can use it or not, your van is still taking up that space.
Sorry I can't help but am thinking along the same lines as yourself - we haven't been able to use/travel to our caravan as they were in a different zone/lock down to us, and now we are all the same. I don't object to paying the rent for the ground, that's only fair, but for the amenities - no, that's not right.
Am thinking along the lines - did you pay by credit card - well you haven't got what you paid for - right ? Worth thinking about.Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -
Refusing to pay outright is not advisable, the site owner could after due warning arrange for the caravan to be removed from its pitch and possibly the site itself with the possibility of a hefty reconnection fee if the OP wanted to return.A_Frayed_Knot said:mattyprice4004 said:The fee is for renting the ground the van is on - regardless of if you can use it or not, your van is still taking up that space.

An attempt at trying to negotiate a slightly lower fee is a much better approach. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
The OP hasn't paid yet. He is due to pay from 1 March 21.A_Frayed_Knot said:

thanks for the reply’s I don’t mind paying for site rent, but when it is obvious the site will not open on the 1st March due to lockdown then I,am paying for a service that the site can’t adhere to. And for them to say no refunds for any time lost it seems wrong as it could be months that we are not able to use the site ....0

There might be a case for some reduction to reflect facilities that cannot open. However, if everyone seeks a reduction or no rent period, then it is quite possible the caravan site will simply not survive as a business. In that case, everyone will face the costs of removing their caravans, which will likely be more than the costs of paying the fees for closed months.Micktomo said:thanks for the reply’s I don’t mind paying for site rent, but when it is obvious the site will not open on the 1st March due to lockdown then I,am paying for a service that the site can’t adhere to.
