Hi guys.
Forgive the naivety but can anyone tell me whether it's remotely (play on words??) possible to use my TV - situated in another room - to display what my PC's putting out?
Any options available which don't involve huge expense and/or gadget armageddon?

You can do it for free if the TV is Miracast compatible then you should be able to do that, it has been around since 2015 and most smart TV's have it.
It transmits over Wifi so your PC will need a Wifi network adapter if it hasn't already got one.0 -
We have a 'quite old' Samsung TV.I W10 display settings I get the option to connect to a wireless display but it rarely works properly.I now have a Firestick and can connect to that easily and reliably in the same way.0

Shall we play "guess the exact model of TV & PC"? When we have guessed correctly, after a few days, we can go on to look at the functions of the aforementioned.RainbowsInTheSpray said:Hi guys.

Or you could ask the OP for the information you need.HereToday said:

Sorry, I should of course have given more details... although these are not all that informative, at least not to me!HereToday said:

I have an ancient tower Optiplex 755 running Widows 7 Pro. The TV is a Panasonic TX-L39EM6B.0 -
Thanks, native Miracast is out of the question with the current PC - you would need Win 10 and a Wifi adapter. I'm not sure whether the TV has Miracast from looking at the specs.RainbowsInTheSpray said:

Unfortunately the PC seems to only have a single VGA video output which limits the ways to can hook up to a TV wirelessly - with HDMI you can buy wireless transmitters. You could bodge together an active VGA to HDMI convertor and a HDMI transmitter / receiver but I've never seen this done and can't see it working well. Plus you would need to disconnect your PC monitor and plug this all in.
What will you actually use it for? I'm assuming streaming movies etc and given the TV has Netflix YouTube etc I'm guessing it is downloaded movies?
If so, copying them to a USB stick and plugging it into the TV seems the easiest way. Also some TV's can link to shared files on a PC through the LAN, mines does with Win 10, I think it works with Win 7.
Let me know what you want to send from PC to TV so I can think of potential solutions.

P.S. I don't need it. If the OP needs help, it is something that she needed to do. If fact everyone should do it; rather than waiting for someone to ask.
Thank you for your contribution anyway...very helpful.0 -
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VGA-Male-to-HDMI-Female-1080P-Output-HDTV-Audio-Video-Cable-Converter-Adapter/133579720955 is an example of what tallmansix has mentioned, but perhaps with a long HDMI lead. Forget about wireless. The Panasonic isn't capable. The LAN connection is only for TV Firmware updatesRainbowsInTheSpray said:Hi guys.

If movies/video, you can do as suggested earlier and download to USB Flash drive and play directly on TV.1 -
Just wanted to say thanks.0
