Hi all
I am looking for a good, easy to use & free program to covert PDF word documents. I am using Windows 10 - does that have a program built in ?

Thank you

If you have Word it can do it already:

Note that this does not guarantee full format recovery.  It may not look very pretty.

    Try this online solution
  • As Neil_Jones indicates, Word is a very simple solution to the question you ask.
Third party apps do bring an unecessary risk however small. It was only last September that Nitro PDF converter suffered a data breach which wasn't reported until quite recently and several large organisations as well as personal customers had documents compromised.

Try I love PDF dot com (forum doesn't let me post links!)  There's no limit on the number of conversions you can do, but as a previous post has pointed out, don't expect a pretty outcome - the format is likely to be rubbish.  The same will likely happen if you use Word, so be prepared for a lot of editing afterwards.  Also as the previous post points out, online conversion comes with a risk - don't whatever you do use an online service to convert anything with personal details, bank account details, etc., as you could find these all over the dark web!  I Love PDF has a load of very useful functions - I use it a lot, but mostly for historical write-ups with no security issues.

  • Thinking...well asking a bit laterally, why do you want to load a pdf into Word?
If it is to edit the contents only then there are other solutions.
If it to use a page or excerpt in an existing Word document there are other solutions.
Neither will do everything but much better chance of maintaining the format of presentation.

I've used zamzar.com for various format conversions in the past, either to extract a PDF into a Word document, or sometimes (for example a PDF form) to a JPG file so I can fill in the text with a paint program as my handwriting is illegible.
