Renting

My sister is very poorly, hardly leaves her properly, its very cold.  She is so scared to go anywhere or do anything as she could land up on the street. She lives in a caravan which gas or electricity supply has been checked, she is so afraid her health is really bad. Please what can she do thank you

  • Anything she wants to.
    You need to be a more specific if you want advice. You statement about gas/electric makes no sense.

    She can speak to Shelter, and look at their website for all sorts of advice.

    The main initial question is what kind of tenancy she has, because she is in a caravan it may not be the AST we are all used to dealing with here. Or, it may be.

    Start here (assuming in england/wales) - run through the questions/points and tell us what the answers are (in precise detail) if you want further advice from us.

    Honestly, it sounds like your sister's issues are far wider than her accommodation. Are her GP or social services involved?

    Is she renting the caravan, or the pitch on which it is sited?
    If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

    You need to give more info. Is this a conventional caravan, or a mobile home which is on a fixed pitch? Is she on mains gas, or hooked up to a bottled supply?
    Unless she has a proper AST, then the requirements for a GSC do not I think apply?
    Why will she end up 'on the street' if she goes out.? Has she been asked to leave the property by the LL?

    What does 'gas has not  been checked." mean.
    far more information needed about the
    * type of accomodation
    * type of contract
    * what has happened to the gas/electricity
    We cannot advise without understanding the situation in detail.

    I think the OP means that the gas and electricity has not been checked for safety, or any certification provided.
    Not that it has been disconnected.

    What are the requirements in a caravan? Legitimate question
