I once had a pop up on the computer tell me I had illegally downloaded copyrighted gay p o r n (no chance) and that I needed to pay a hundred and twenty five euros fine, which conveniently I could pay right there and then online.

I was surprised that the IRS only accepts gift card codes for payment of taxes when they have a warrant out for your arrest, but it seems legit, After all giving out credit card details over the phone is risky, and cheques may just get lost in the post.
