InboxPounds Limited - application to strike off

Anyone here who has a balance with InboxPounds Limited, the company behind inboxpounds.co.uk, needs to be aware that an application has been filed today with Companies House to strike the company off the register of companies.  In short, it's being wound up... which is not at all a bad thing, because for some while anyone providing the company with personal data has had it unlawfully exported to the United States.  The terms and conditions don't make much sense at all, and certainly don't stand up to scrutiny: whoever wrote them clearly wasn't legally qualified and I personally would not have touched them with a bargepole!

If you have money tied up with this company, you have very little chance of withdrawing it now, but it's always worth a try.  The company only existed to funnel income back to the owner in the USA, and it's quite possible that it's only being wound up now because a number of the "promotions" being conducted by the parent company are not trading legally in the UK in terms of Companies Act requirements, e.g.:

• ShopAtHome
• ySense
• MyGiftCardsPlus
• ... etc.

Some of these have been mentioned on here by members as a source of income, but it's important to understand that if a company or other legal entity is running a promotion without having any UK presence, it doesn't have to comply with UK laws requiring specific information to be included about its identity on its Web site and in its business communications (most importantly, its legal name, and the registered office address), and you have no means whatsoever of enforcing your legal rights, especially in relation to what happens to your personal data.
