Enhanced Disability Premium / ESA

Hi! I was wondering if anyone could help with the above?
In January of last year, I was switched from ESA to Universal Credit. Due to this, my ESA changed from contribution based to income related ESA.
I now receive a basic rate of ESA from the ESA department. This is deducted from my Universal Credit at the end of the month.
I also receive a payment in my UC described as 'Limited Capability for Work and Work Related Activity'. I was previously in the support group element for ESA.
I have read on the. Gov website; If you’re in the support group and on income-related ESA, you’re also entitled to the enhanced disability premium. You may also qualify for the severe disability premium.
This is under the link;
https://www.gov.uk/employment-support-allowance/what-youll-get
(heading 4 - If you're in the support group)
Taking into account the above, I'm wondering whether I should have been receiving the Enhanced Disability Premium?
I have asked DWP, and they say that I have been receiving this payment under 'Limited Capability for Work and Work Related Activity'. However, it says this is a different payment on the. Gov website.
I have sent the above links and information to DWP, but noone is coming back to me.
Does anyone have any experience of this?
Many thanks

Many thanksYou wouldn't have transferred from contributions based to income based. Part of your ESA would have been contributions based, which has continued (£113.55 per week) as you correctly said, it's deducted in full from any UC entitlement.The income related top up you were receiving stopped when you claimed UC.As you are in the Support Group for ESA then this has been honoured in UC and you are now receiving the LCWRA element as part of your UC entitlement.As you are now claiming UC and your ESA is all contirbutions based then you won't be entitled to the disability premiums because they are not paid with a contributions based only claim.UC LCWRA pays more than ESA support group (without the SDP)Sounds like you are receiving the correct amount of money.1 -

When I was transferred to UC, I had a letter from ESA to say I was now on income related?0 -

Yes, letters from ESA are never ever easy to understand and a lot of the time the wording makes no sense at all. Your ESA is most definitely not Income Related, it's Contributions based.

You have clearly misunderstood what was meant but ESA letters are notoriously badly written so it probably isn't your fault!Owlykatz said: When I was transferred to UC, I had a letter from ESA to say I was now on income related?
As poppy has said a single claimant on UC with LCWRA element will receive more benefit income than an ESA claimant in the Support Group (assuming that the ESA claim would not have include a Severe Disability Premium). That was true even without the temporary £20/week uplift to UC which ESA claimants do not get.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1
