I'd advise you do quite the research and try to spot an area that is still a bit rough but starts to become 'up and coming'. You get more for your buck and it'll be a potentially great investment. I'd keep my eyes out for areas such Rutherglen, Ibrox/Cessnock, even Maryhill and Springburn have shown promising signs for the future.
This is along the lines of how I'm thinking, it's just harder to do when it's not the city you know instinctively like your own. Although on the other hand, maybe it's easier when you haven't grown up in a place being told what the right and wrong side of the tracks are, and just take it as you find it. I actually know someone who has bought in Rutherglen and is happy there, although I've never been. And I don't really know the further north side suburbs at all but I'll defo check them out. That's so funny to hear that Finnieston was once not sought after at all... I've been going to Glasgow for about eight years now and it's been trendy since then although I can see even in that time that it's more so now. I had a friend who lived in Ibrox and it was kinda rough, but I didn't mind it. Haven't been there for a few years now so I would love to take a look. All this talk makes me want to get back up there, hope we're allowed to travel soon! Thanks for the advice.
  • Lived in Ibrox for over 20 years as it has ideal transport links the underground gets you into town quickly the only downside being match days car parking is a nightmare and there are crowds everywhere not a problem now I expect but will be again when restrictions are lifted. I moved to Paisley a few months before lockdown to be nearer to family and the property prices are cheaper.
