Car burnt out. Contacting DVLA
As it says. My car has just burnt out to the point of total disintegration. The insurance company has arranged for it to be removed which should have happened by now.
My problem is that the car tax is paid monthly and the next installment is due shortly but I have no idea how to inform the DVLA as there is nothing on the V5 for this sort of thing. It hasn't been sold or transferred, it isn't going abroad. I don't have details of which scrap yard the car will end up at either.
I tried calling the DVLA for advice but of course "We're sorry but the lines are very busy at present. Please call again later" is all I get.
I can hopefully cancel the DD for the payment but as usual Barclays seem to have changed their website and it's bloody hopeless. I can't even do a cancelation online as it transfers me to a "page not found" that I can't go back on, meaning I'm technically still logged in but unable to refresh the page etc.
What I need though more than anything right now is what to do about notifying the DVLA about it being burnt out and removed.

When the insurers collect it send off section 9 transfer to motor trader or insurer using the insurers details. If you do it online the transfer of registered keeper is instant.0

Even better, do it online instantly - no risk of it going awol or being delayed in the post.
