Hi all, we've just moved into our 1st house on our own energy supply instead of mum and dads 😀
There is currently a British gas meter installed but it costs a fortune and we want it out but British gas are refusing to do it because of covid. Are we able to use another supplier to remove it and change to them?
Thanks x

Hmmm but british gas are fitting smart meters which can be quarterly or pre pay at the flip of switch. Funny they wont exchange your meter if doing that.0

I’m in the same situation as you, but with EDF. The electric is on a smart meter, but gas on prepayment, am on their expensive Prepay Gas and expensive standard electricity tariff. Was with eon but moved to EDF after I tried to get gas meter switched with eon, but failed with their credit check for an unknown reason and was told to try again In 3 months. Switched to EDF who don’t run such checks before swapping the meter over, but the supply took several week to fully register, but as of 15th January they’re trotting out the COVID excuse to not do meter work unless emergency.1
