I'm buying a new house but not moving in straight away. What bills do I have to pay?

Hi all. I hope this is okay.
I am going to be buying and completing the sale of a new house within the next week. However, I will not be moving in straight away as the new property needs some work doing.
Do I still need to take out new Contracts for utilities etc and pay for 2 properties?
Thanks in advance for the advice!

If you want gas and electricity in the new house you have to pay for it. Who else is going to?!Same with Council tax.And insurance (unless there is no mortgage and you are happy to take the risk).2

Yes. A standing charge will apply to utilities. There's no one else who will be liable for it. Also I'm not sure how much renovation you can do without power and water.

hello
the house will be yours and yes you will need to pay all bills as if you live there, so register to pay council tax, all utilities etc. The only bill you can avoid for now if you choose is things like sky/broadband and tv licence. With tv licence you need to go on online and register and fill out that you are don’t have tv/radio in there, if not they will start sending threatening letters.Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)

It might also be worth checking your local council's position with council tax on unused properties - you might find yourself paying double the usual council tax on it until you move in.
