Hi every one, i dont know if i am on the correct forum but i would like to let everyone know about a strange phone call i had yesterday.
i recieved a call from a pleasant women asking to speak to my wife ,"i replied iam sorry but she is at work"
she then said maybe i could help as there is a problem with her bank account
she said she was calling from the Halifax, and could i comfirm her date of birth and her employers address.
this is when the alarm bells started to ring, as we dont have a bank account with the Halifax
I then thought lets see how far she would actually go with a few questions from me,
i said it would not be right for me to give out such info over the phone
,she replied by saying i have all her details here on screen, it is only for security reasons
i then ask what the problem was, as this was a joint account, she quickly replied in a laugh of cause it is, then your dob would do, then the call just went dead.
if i had, a account with the Halifax this call would have worried me,but all the same i would like to let other halifax customers, there could be a scam going on.

No, this is serious. beechville96, I bet you're just having a laugh with us, pretending you thought it really was Halifax.
But in case you're not, ... IT WAS NOT HALIFAX !!!
If you've just given out your details (date of birth etc) then ring Halifax immediately, or the scammers will get your money!0 -
It is actually a marketing firm calling on behalf of Halifax .. and attempting to sell their Insurances. With all the, understandable, clamour ... I'm astonished Halifax haven't pulled the plug :
