***Car Insurance - Should I go for cheapest quote from Debenhams Personal Finance ??

Hi everyone,
Debenhams Personal Finance (DPF) have offered me the cheapest car insurance via a comparison website (just over £200 saving to the next quote I got from this comparison site).
In light of today's announcement that the Debenham's is being sold off to Boohoo, I am wondering if I should go for this saving deal with DPF, or leave it now, as they may go into administration as well?
Any help and advice on this would be welcomed. Thanks!
Sukh.

  • Debenhams is just the name slapped on the policy. It makes no difference to the underlying policy.

Somerset Bridge Insurance Ltd is the actual operator. As above, Debenhams is just a branding/licensing arrangement. Debenhams Retail Ltd is already in administration: you don't stop trading when this happens.

  • Thanks zx81 & macman! so if I understand correctly if Debenhams Personal Finance went into liquidation and were no longer around/ trading, this would not effect a car insurance policy I bought through them? My policy would still remain active over the remaining term of my annual insurance? and instead, I would liaise with Somerset Bridge Insurance Ltd for any future queries or claims during the remaining term? Is this correct?
    Thank you!
  • I think you might have misread the last two posts.
Somerset Bridge Insurance is the operator.
You would have had to contact them anyway...so nothing has changed.
In the same way that M&S car insurance is administered by BISL.

M&S Car Insurance is a white label of BISL and so everyone you speak to is BISL etc

DPF is an appointed representative of Somerset Bridge and therefore could be a pure white label but it would be unusual to bother setting up an AR for one. Its therefore possible that DPF is being run independently and just under the oversight of Somerset Bridge and in that scenario there is no contract between the policyholder and Somerset Bridge
