Early Exit fees

Options
I have a 'fixed price tariff' with peoples energy [ Peoples energy 2 months upfront winter tariff v2] It ends 3/2/21. Early exit fees were £30 per fuel. Their new tariff is dearer so through  the MSE Energy club found and gone for AVRO. I am now being 'threatened with early exit fees. I thought/understood from switching sites that I do not have to pay these within 45 days of switching.
What have i done wrong
Cheers Andy

My fix is ending, if I switch now will I be charged an early exit fee?

Energy suppliers are banned from charging exit fees when you have less than 49 days to go until the end of your tariff. These are rules set down by energy regulator Ofgem, so suppliers have to stick to them. Stay within these timeframes and you shouldn't be charged.

SECOND QUOTE HOWEVER I SWITCHED MYSELF AS THE MSE SITE CANNOT TO AVRO

We'll never switch you without your permission, so if you will need to pay exit fees when it's time to autoswitch, we'll let you know. You can then decide if switching is worth it, just remember to factor the cost of your exit fees when looking at how much you'd save by switching.

If you're on a fix, you'll never pay exit fees in the last 49 days of your tariff. If you're on a variable tariff, your tariff won't have exit fees, so you're free to switch at any time penalty-free.

You don't need to pay. just reply telling them it is less than 49 days prior to the end of the tariff and you will complain if charged an early exit fee. (you will win)
