Extending travelup credit voucher.

Options
Hi, I have £375 worth of credit flight vouchers that run out at the end of June this year,I have asked Travelup to extend the dates as we are not going to be able to use them as we are both keyworkers with no success after emailing them and getting replies that dont actually answer our question,I haven't phoned yet as the wait will no doubt be very long, has anybody had any success extending their vouchers .The vouchers were issued in June 2020 for cancelled flights for my sons wedding in Cyprus which never happened,I thought i was doing the decent thing not asking for a refund.
Thanks

Was the 2020 flight cancelled by the airline at the time or were you given the credit following a concession made by Travel Up/Airline after you needed to change plans in light of the postponement of your son’s wedding?

Do you know if the credit voucher is held or issued by the airline?

Finally, is it a credit voucher or described as a Refund Credit Note?

The flights were cancelled by BA, ITS  credit voucher and was issued by travelup, I have sent them another email.

Based on this BA may of converted your booking funds to a credit and be holding this until you wish to spend it, or Travel Up may have been refunded by BA and have issued their own form of credit voucher for future use.  The former will mean only a BA spend, the later may give flexibility on using for other airlines.

With 30 June being a long way off I suspect the extension of the validity date won’t have even been viewed or thought about at this time.  BA may well extend validity of credit vouchers but possibly not announce this until closer to the expiry date.  Travel Up would follow the airline’s instruction on that.  If a Travel Up credit voucher I have to say I would be wary holding for an extended period of time and probably look to use for a distant date flight.

With a cancelled flight you would of been entitled to a full cash refund at the time, but that is a moot point now.

Thanks for your reply Westin , it is definitely a Travel up credit  voucher and we can use it with any airline, we are probably going to book and see my son in Barcelona in October, I have emailed them again and its been passed to a supervisor so we will wait and see .what their response will be.
  • Hi, I had my flight for departure; March 1 st 2020, COVID CANCEL, asked for a credit voucher and was given one, was happy, but the expire date in July 2021; it is not good for me, i need to travel in 2022, January to see my family as covid will be gone by then !! I have sent a hand written letter to the CEO by recorded delivery, EMAILED AND PHONED to ask for an extension, never had a reply back. its a shame, i understand the company is under stress, but an email to confirm my request would be greatly appreciated, my £513.66 paid, I am sure i will not get i back ever. 1st time i have been scammed and will be very astute in the future when booking flights and holidays. take care, just keep up dated with Martin Lewis as i will do from now on.

You haven't been scammed - you have a voucher you can use, it just doesn't fit in with your plans.
  • True Matty, i have a voucher, tried to redeem twice and was sent of the web site, sent messages very many times on the customer contact form, tried to phone; no pick up, they just won't answer, time running out, when voucher date arrives, i will lose the credit, and then i will have been scammed, have asked for refund minus the £50 fee but says on the website my claim has been settled, just can't win.

Have you tried following the process laid out on their website?
Under neither the general search bar there are options displayed.  Once you click on "Redeem a Credit Voucher" further information is displayed.

The expiry date for the credit voucher is the last date it can be used not the last date you can fly, ours expires at the end of June but we are planning to travel in October, I hope this is helpful.
