Any reason why vendor would lie about living at the property?

I am just curious. It seems that the vendor is fibbing about living at the property (I have my reasons to suspect that) and I am not sure what reason behind that could be. They have indicated that they live at the property on the property information form. The reasons could be irrelevant to us as buyers but if they lied…

Why should you care? If they are cheating on CGT it's HMRC's problem not yours. I have had the home office force me a couple years back to check on my tenants to make sure they are allowed to stay in the UK, again not my problem but they are now making it my problem. While the UK is a nation of super grassers and we are now encouraged to tell on our neighbors for breaking covid rules I still find it aberrant that some people are telling you to denounce your sellers to HMRC.
Short answer: it's not your problem as you clearly have said the house is empty. If there were to be tenants that were in the house then it would be a breach of contract etc...
