Have just 'renewed' with BT, but can I switch BB+Line provider during the 14 day cooling off period?

Hello MSE forum,
Yes, I've really messed up... I left sorting out a new broadband+line deal until the last minute.. just what we're always advised NOT to do..
BT is my current provider and current deal expires late tomorrow (Mon, 25th Jan).
I've just agreed a new bb+line 'deal' with BT (Sun morning, 24th Jan)... but now am getting 'cold feet' because I'm thinking it's pretty expensive...
It's a jump from £22/month [current price/about to expire], to £37/month [new 'agreed' price] !!!
So, I'm now in the 14 day cooling off period for this new deal.
My question is, if I did some quick research now, could I switch to a new [cheaper] bb+line provider in this 14 day cooling off period..
Is that 'do-able' ? Has anyone got any experience of doing this?
Thanks for speedy replies if possible!!

Switch possible within 14 days but you could have downtime as it depends upon required work by Open Reach .Your email from BT should say'Your right to cancel
You can cancel your order upto 14 days from when your service starts or kit arrives, whichever is latest. You'll need to pay for anything you've used, and you'll have to return the kit we've sent you, at your own cost, within 14 days of telling us you want to cancel. Then we'll refund anything you've paid for that kit within 14 days of getting it back.

I've done some quick research without conclusion,But you have 2 options. Either go to the BT forum boards and ask https://community.bt.com/ or choose which provider you like that is cheaper and runs on BT phone line (I thought they all did) and phone the BT sales team and ask them the question. Say you are hoping to switch provider because (think of a good reason) because this is so expensive. And can you do that. They will either give you a better offer or tell you if you can cancel.Keep them on track with the conversation to get that information from them. Just keep asking are you able to cancel with no penalty. If you do change don't be put off by having to get a new router. When I moved to my provider it was very quick but you can also delay sending theirs back. You will go on a rolling contract while waiting for the exchange if that's the way you go.I hope it's a gold plated router at £37pmBut if you are using it for work and need it continuous changing now is a risk.I've done the same thing with insurance and sometimes you just have to bite the bullet when ringing round you get huge prices. Swear I could hear the smile on their face at me having to accept top whack.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Why didn't you just let it roll over and then renegotiate a better deal at your leisure? They weren't going to cut you off if you hadn't contacted them. Given the near 80% increase you have already agreed, rolling over onto the rack rate for a few weeks would not have cost much more.
It is also my understanding that a contract extension does not come with a 14 day cooling-off period, but others have stated this is not the case with BT-you'll need to check the t and c's to be sure.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
