The prize:
The winner and guest will stay for two nights, B&B, in a Superior Plus room at Rothay Manor in Ambleside. This 19th-century country-house retreat was one of The Sunday Times’ Best Places to Stay 2020 and has recently had a complete refurbishment. Think lush fabrics and soothing colours in the bedrooms, William Morris wallpaper in the drawing room and elegant wood panelling in the restaurant, where head chef Dan McGeorge has been awarded 3 AA rosettes.
Meanwhile, outside, the Lake District beckons. Windermere stretches long and wide just south of the hotel and it’s a short drive to bracing walks in Langdale, around Grasmere and alongside Ullswater.
The prize includes one five-course tasting menu for two (excluding drinks) in the restaurant. It must be taken before December 23, 2021, subject to availability and excluding public holidays.
