Switch from prepayment meters
My son moved into his flat just before lockdown last March. The previous owner had prepayment meters for gas & electricity. Scottish Power agreed to install smart meters and had a date for this which was subsequently cancelled. So far they haven't been replaced despite numerous calls & being told he is on a list. It is costing him a lot to keep topping them up. Can he switch supplier & get new smart meters or does he have to wait until his current supplier instals them?

I think some answers will depend where your son lives, Scotland for instance has differing views on what is "essential" Covid workOn another thread a poster pointed out changing meters, except for safety, is not considered essential work during lock downWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray1

There was a period where work had restarted for these things and he should have been one of the first to be done but for some reason wasn't top of the list. Seems a bit strange when he actually had a date for the work the day after lockdown started.
