Can you pick a switch date? Currently with avro, moving to EON?

But their new deal is super expensive. I've cancelled my direct debit with a view to moving when the current deal runs out (Mid March).
It is still the current cheapest so do not want to transfer too soon.
Ive cancelled the DD as I am £150 in credit, which will hopefully cover my next two months payments.
Contemplating EON 1 Year Fix - but can I pick a date?

  • Hi,
I think as you have cancelled your DD you will now go on to the standard tariff, which means you can switch any time.

Not a good idea to cancel DD it can cause problems later, if they do take more than you think then use the DD guarantee to claw it back
Not sure of date picking, never bothered to try but no doubt you could ask them

How does cancelling a Direct Debit make you change tariffs?
They haven't taken more money, I just want my credit balance to dwindle down before I leave in 6-8 weeks.
  • Hi,
check your t&cs, did you sign up for a fixed deal?

Unfortunately DD is done by robots & not humans, computer says take £xx from account using DD, Bank DD robot says "shove of I've been cancelled", it does not say "cancelled but take it from the credit balance"

E.ON aim to switch your supply in 17 days so if you identify the day you want to switch and subtract 17 days from it and request your switch on that date then you won't be far off.

Because your DD bouncing may be a breach of the T & C's and may result in them defaulting you back to standard tariff.
And no, you cannot specify a switch date.
