Replacing element Indesit oven.

I wonder if anyone can help please? I'm currently isolating and the element in my oven has broken. Trying to be resourceful, I ordered a replacement and thought I would attempt repair myself. I have taken it apart and the new part has different connectors to the old part. New part just has single metal end and old part has like a double end. Thinking they had sent me the wrong part I double checked part number, serial number etc and according to indesit the part sent is correct for my oven. So my question is, is there something I can do or buy to make it fit? Its going to be at least another ten days before I can let someone in to fix it.
Thanks any help would be appreciated.

A photo would help, but I think I know what you're saying.

The original element has one 'spade' connector at each end of the element, which had wires of differing colours going to them, yes? (It may also have a central 'spade' which had the yellow/green earth wire going to it? If so, this central connector should be pretty obviously going to the 'body' of the element - to the visible metal parts, yes?)

Assuming the above is the case, then what I think you are saying is, the new element looks virtually identical but has TWO spade connectors at EACH end instead of just one? If you look at these two, is it pretty obvious that each pair of connectors are actually electrical 'one' - ie they are connected together? So it's TWO 'spades' at EACH end of the element?

If so, just connect it up as you did before - one spade on each element 'end' - doesn't matter which of the two spades at each end you connect to. But obviously do NOT connect both wires to ONE end!

ONLY PROCEED IF THAT MAKES COMPLETE SENSE!

Post a photo of the two elements and we'll confirm.

(I'm assuming that each element - the original and new - have only a SINGLE 'coil' or element length? Model of oven, and which element is it - the main oven's?)

Did you order a compatible part or a genuine OEM part?

I had to replace mine a couple of years ago and originally purchased a cheaper, compatible element but when it arrived it was too small and wouldn't clear the fan. I had to return it and spend the extra for the OEM version.

  • You simply haven't given us enough information to help you

    Need the model no
Need a pic of old and new element
Need a pic of the wiring for the element

Did you take a pic before you disconnected the old element?

Fair play for having a go though
