Bank opening hours during this lockdown

indeed this for a withdrawal, (passbook type account), but you really can do most things over the phone or use the PO!, other then that ive not had to step in a bank/POcolsten said:
Many banks offer mobile cheque deposits for up to £500 (or even up to £1,000 during pandemic); for almost all banks, you can deposit higher value cheques at Post Offices, and where that's not an option, you can post the cheque to your Bank / Building Society. So even frequent cheque depositors can easily get by without a Bank branch. I am quite baffled by the OP's complaint, as all essential financial matters can surely be handled either without going to a Branch, or within the opening hours, even if they are now restricted to limit personal contacts and the spread of the virus.BrownTrout said:
i went to a building society branch for the first time in years this summer to have some cheques done, but thats been in about 4 yearsjbrassy said:Do people still go to bank branches? Haven't stepped foot in one for years. Internet banking is open 24/7. Failing that, open a First Direct account and you can ring them 24/7.
People just whinge when banks close, but dont use themselves, or realise that old people who use them dont make banks any money1 -
Could you not put that argument forward for every business where it suits your needs?Gsaver1 said:Why can banks not stagger their hours instead of just opening the same hours during the week? Those who arrived at this decision should give themselves a head wobble imo.
Maybe your proposal would not suit some people so the logical conclusion of all these head wobbles would be that businesses should operate 24/7.
With banks the argument is that they have to cash out and balance their ledgers before end of day so they need an hour to do that - some of them are operating on systems developed several decades ago.I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!2 -
If that were the sum of the argument I wonder how they managed to open after 2 pm during the week and on Saturdays last February.IvanOpinion said:

Yes Lloyds is hopeless opens 9.30 to 2 so there is always a massive line of people. How is that helping to avoid people standing close together? In our town the queue snakes right up a busy narrow thoroughfare a covoid nightmare!0
