Have you ever made an Easter Hamper?

Someone mentioned on another thread about Easter Hampers and how they had started getting organised.

Has anyone got any idea's of what you would put in one? apart from the obvious chocolate !

It would make a lovely change for my three daughters rather than mounds of chocolate.
Any pictures would be great too!!!

Wow, you are thinking ahead!! Let me get Christmas over with first.. Easter hampers sound lovely though. Go with easter bunnies, mug with ducks on (seen one in a picture on the Christmas hamper thread) fluffy slippers, if your girls are anything like mine they love pens, notebooks etc. You can buy these plastic eggs that come apart and you fill yourself, that would look good in a hamper, a few of them. with say a necklace (bought in Jan sales) and earings in them. I have to remember these ideas myself now...

I was going to say la la la I can't hear you, its not christmas yet! :D However, I seem to remember last year I got some lovely handpainted easter bowls very cheap in the Whittards January sale. Then at easter we set up a hunt for mini eggs and the kids put them in their bowls.

Not a hamper. But they were pretty ;)
hey there's no money but we couldn't be happier if we tried

Hello all, I'm a newbie, just wanted to say hi.
I made baskets last year but it was all chocolate. I don't know what age your girls are but how about a small easter egg or chick mould but used to make soap or candles instead, face flannel with chick or bunny on. Bright spring/flowers coloured notebook and pens, homemade chick or bunny shaped cookies.

Just some ideas hope they are helpful.
  • I've started on my Easter Baskets. I am making only 3.
I purchased cotton lined wicker baskets from Wilkinsons for £1.49 each
Have a look at EBAY item number 140185688692. They are similar to what I purchased as Wilkos.

Then I purchased cellophane from ebay too
Some examples on ebay are item numbers
    50191490024
    330193750036

I am going to fill mine with:-
    Mug,
Hot choccy sachets for the 2 older girls,
    little Easter chick or duck,
    1. Different varieties of the small eggs (cream egg sizes)

    2. 3 large bars of choccy (cadburys mint, milk choccy & Galaxy)

    3. assorted smaller bars (caramac, boost, turkish delight, golden cup, star bar, aiming for old fashioned bars that they wouldnt know of)

    4. bags of cola bottles, white mice, dazzle drops, etc

    5. a bag of marshmallows

    6. bag of toffee popcorn

I've not done full-blown easter hampers, but for the last few years I have done goody bags for the family children (eldest was 8, although we've now gained one in their early teens, so that will be a new challenge) - the adults don't really do easter in terms of spending money, so I don't have to worry about them.

I start with an easter bag (cello usually, but I got some lovely easter paper gift bags from Savers last month for pennies, so I'll use them this time) and add some shredded tissue in the bottom. You can get easter bunny lollies from Lidl (79p for 10), and small hollow easter chicks or eggs (lidl) or jellies (Instore/Poundstretcher) for the edible side of things.

Then over the years, depending on the age of the child, I've added suncatcher kits (with easter themes), soft toys (for the babies), small games (party bag/pocket money type), clockwork animals (bugs and butterflies), egg cups, easter pens and pencils (got some lovely ones a couple of years back - they were crayons where you pull and pop pieces to get at the colours - and each section was a bunny).

Ebay is great for things that are a little different, if you have the time to trawl the listings.

I'm going for growing kits this year - grassheads, sunflowers etc, and maybe some painting kits - models, mugs etc.

    :)

Actually, this thread has made me realise - I first did these in 2005, and there were 6 children and a tiny baby - next year there will be 14! - no wonder I have to start planning earlier each year.

At least though I can bulk buy and cut the costs - the easter bags usually cost between £3 and £4 each

  • If people are making up easter hampers, you may want a choccie bunny to add to it. Look on this thread

I'm not doing Easter hampers and have to post stuff to my grandchildren. The two 15 year olds will get a retro sweet box (got the boxes, just need to fill them up) and my grandson won't be 1yr old till June so he's getting an egg shaped money box from our local shop. Wrapped properly it should post ok.
I normally send the older two money but thought the retro sweet box would be a bit different for them. I'll have to think of something a bit 'easter like' to put on it unless I pop a few mini-eggs inside. Not decided yet.

Need some ideas for Easter for 9 month old grandson...........do they eat chocolate at that age ? I can't remember. The other grandchildren are in their teens and their retro sweet boxes came to about £2.60 each.
I was going to get an egg shaped money box but the shop in town hasn't got them anymore so thats out of the question.
Woolworths had some plastic buckets in and I wondered about filling that up with something but I'm just a bit baffled due to his age. Any ideas ?
