AA Breakdown cover - business or normal cover?

Hi,
We have a car for personal use and a van that my partner uses to get to work, carry tools and sometimes materials for jobs (plasterer).
We have had AA cover before and had call outs to the van and it has been fine but we recently moved to RAC and they said they shouldnt be touching it becuase it should have business cover so I'm looking for a new AA policy.
Should we have normal AA cover or business cover? Business cover seems to be for a fleet, couriers, taxis etc.I really want to just move the whole policy back to AA on normal cover to cover the van and car like we have before rather than having two policies. Do we really need business cover if for a single van? I can't find it in the terms and conditions.
Thanks.

  • You would be better off asking the AA surely?

We cover any vehicle* of any age – including cars, hybrid, electric vehicles, motorbikes, cars, hybrids, electric vehicles, motorbikes (49cc and over), campervans and vans.

Your vehicle must weigh less than 3.5 tonnes (3,500 kg) and it can’t be bigger than 6.4 m long and 2.55 m wide (that's roughly the weight and size of a Ford Transit long wheelbase van).

RAC's terms and conditions exclude vehicles "used for business".
They also have a weight limit of 3.5 tonnes GVW, which is a lot less than "must weigh less than 3.5 tonnes".
