What is this pipe, please?

Hello,
My waste pipe is leaking. I can’t tell if it’s leaking in several places or just one. There’s a small pipe that goes into the waste pipe further up near the dormer and there’s a steady stream of water coming from the top. Would anyone know what this pipe is, please? My boiler is in the attic in the right hand corner of the dormer.

You’ll see the small pipe to the left of the landing window and the boiler is in the right hand corner of the extension further up.
Many thanks 🙏

It looks and sounds like the condensate pipe from your boiler. You need someone with a tall ladder.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

CatLady, turn your boiler off and see if the flow of water soon ceases.
Get it sorted asap as condensate water is slightly acidic and won't do your wall and patio or whatever is below any good.A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".0 -
Thanks folks. My gas engineer seems to think a plumber can fix this? I’ve had someone out to quote me for replacing the pipe work further down and I think he can replace this at the top. At least I’m hoping he can!
The stream is quite thin, it’s not running massively but I’ve only just spotted it today because the rain has finally subsided! On the face of it does it sound like a plumber could just renew the pipe and seal to fix it?
The boiler was losing pressure but since I’ve re-pressurised it, it’s seems okay?

Plumber or handyman should be able to replace the pipework0

Looks like the strap boss isn’t on straight. Easily fixed.0

Could that be done from the windows either side?jefaz07 said:Looks like the strap boss isn’t on straight. Easily fixed.
The closest window has a very small top opener and the other window might be too far away.A man walked into a car showroom.

Not to sound thick, what is a strap boss?0

Just googled it 😂
The chap I had out to quote for the lower part said he can replace the pipe work higher up so hopefully that should fix it. He said the pipes he uses have these ‘strap boss’ thingies built into the pipes but I’d initially had him out to quote for the lower part of the pipe itself as I thought it was leaking further down but I think it’s running down from further up.
Would anyone suggest I get someone to look at the boiler to see if there’s an issue inside or could this just be a case of the external pipe work needing repair / replacement? First house I’ve lived in where the boiler’s been upstairs!
Many thanks!0 -
I think your boiler is fine, its just the normal condensate draining out
It may just be a case of checking the joints on the pipework rather than replacing2 -
Thank you!0
