Why do daily standing charges vary so much ?

I'm only pointing out it's not a transparent way for them to do it, that's all, albeit less confusing than the old way of two prices per unit. They say the standing charge is the cost of supplying energy, but the original question was why does it vary so much. In part because the cost of supplying energy will vary, but also because it's a way of confusing the customer with lots of different prices and making simple comparisons a little less easy.
Of course they're out to make as much money as they can, and the retail energy market is not awash with profits, which is why we see many going out of business.0 -
There are different DSCs due to the company operating model, market fragmentation and which consumers the companies want to target.0
