Symbio refusing the switch

I haven't read this thread for a few days but catching up and saw you say you'd won and the first thought was "I bet they'll just auto-reject the switch when they try again" and scrolled down to see this.helpthetenant said:UpdateSymbio changed their mind again, and they objected the switch again. So, let's recap: My contract with Symbio was supposed to end on 31 Jan 2021.On the 18 Jan I switched to Neon Reef. But the day after Symbio objected, asking me to pay £26. I didn't pay, thinking that they are not allowed to block any switching. In fact on the 23 Jan, Symbio sent me an apology email saying to reapply for a switch, and they won't object it. So the same day I switchd to Green Energy. Everything seemed ok this time, and on 25 January I even payed that weird £26 to Symbio. Finally, today 27 January, I got an email from Green saying:"Your current supplier has objected to your Electricity Switch to us, and for you to become a member of Green we need them to let you leave. You need to speak to them to find out why they won't let you leave. Once everything has been resolved, do let us know and we will restart your switch to Green. Unfortunately, they won't tell us why they stopped your switch, but the most common reasons are: Debt on your account. You have recently moved in and they need to know who you are before letting you leave. If you need any further help or assistance, get in touch and we would be happy to help. So, in total, Symbio has managed to block/delay everything for 9 days. The battle is not won yet.Regards,
The team at Green"
Pay the outstanding amount and then switch and save yourself all this faffing around.

molerat said:I don't think there is a hard 14 days but all switches have to go through the industry intermediary, the keeper of the registers, who will veto a switch if another is in progress. The energy supply industry is a bit of a lumbering old tortoise and these processes are not automatic and take time so if the previous cancellation / rejection has not been registered yet a new switch will fail.
Being as figure of 14 days has been given by various energy companies ( of course less than 14 days might be ok) How long do you suggest based on your experience of it happening ( like I have) someone waits after cancelling a switch before they start a new switch to a different company

You paid £26, and by your calculations you owed closer to £60.helpthetenant said:finalfantasist said:

lol, basically you know my meter reading and my calculations? You might have special powers, a psychic maybe? The £26 is the amount they requested to allow the switch.finalfantasist said:

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/77995307/#Comment_77995307I owe £60 for the 2 months they didn't charge. It's funny though, after all that Symbio has done so far, it's pretty clear that they're a bit of a shambles, but all of a sudden you're willing to ignore what you know you owe and instead take their word for it that you actually owe less. Of course, the real reason is that you're just playing silly beggars with them. And that's fine, but you're perpetuating this ****show by doing it.0 -

I think you are very keen on supporting these energy companies, but you are less keen on telling me why they apologised, and why they changed their mind with a pathetic U-turn. Obviously you can't read, because I said clearly that even if they didn't charge me for two months (about £ 60), they blocked initially the switch saying that I had to pay £ 26. So I doubt you are coming here to help consumers, you are here to justify dirty deeds.

I'm having a very similar problem. Where they decided to calculate the final bill based on the previous bill saying that it was arrears. You have to be in arrears for 28 days. So, about a months worth of energy. As of the end of december they state that I am 75gbp in arrears, due to an estimated reading. I submitted a reading on the 22nd January which is about 1,000KwH below their estimation. Taking off the 22 days I should in theory owe only around 35 (which is less than a month, my dd was originally around 40gbp). Currently waiting for them to recalculate and have already cancelled the direct debit.1
