  • When you need tax advise, buy the services of a specialist tax-accountant.
For general advice, I'm almost certain the wisdom of the MSE forum beats any individual IFA but, in either choice, you cannot shrug off your individual responsibility :- nobody else really cares about your investments.

I don't think it's unfair for posters to suggest that the OP speaks to an IFA based on the what he initially asked.  However it's fair also to highlight that DIY is an option if they want to acquire the sufficient knowledge, to be careful of the advice provided, recognise how IFA's are rewarded, and I think your very last comment is true. It's easy to want to trust an advisor, and many are very helpful, but at the end of the day they are not a charity.
I do think though that some excessive anti IFA comments might harm your message imo.

I don't think it benefits either of us for me to review multiple messages of yours and for me to try to highlight where I feel that these comments harm what I believe is an important angle you provide to the IFA discussion tbh.
I was only trying to indicate that imo, based on the time I have been on this forum and seeing some of your responses that I feel that your valid angle can get lost and might actually negate the message.
