CMC want fee for PPI refund for person I did not authorize them to claim for

In 2018 a CMC company sent a letter addressed to my deceased Father stating he may have been entitled to a PPI payout. I agreed to them pursuing this posthumously on behalf of him and also myself (I have successfully claimed for myself by myself in the past, but couldn't face going through Dad's affairs when he had passed away back in 2016).  Surprisingly there was still a valid PPI claim on a joint loan between myself and my deceased Husband, which I must have missed.  I have only received the PPI payout based on my portion of that loan, and am currently working with the lender in question to claim the portion of the payout which was due to my late Husband.
The CMC have sent me an invoice for their % fee based on the total amount of that payout, which I have yet to receive.  As I only instructed them on behalf of my Dad and myself, are they entitled to do that?   He died in 2013 so I didn't include his name in any of the CMC paper work that I signed.
