Equifax

Refused credit due to incorrect information on my credit report. Took 3 months to get it sorted and Equifax admitted liability (they had linked my report with my sister in law as we have the same name!). Now 2 more errors have appeared and Ive had to contact providers to dispute them. Does anyone else have this issue and how do I stop it happening. Its having a major impact on my credit history/score.
Many thanks

You'll need to raise another complaint. If it's being resolved you could go to the ICO.1

Thanks for your reply. I have already done that. Surely they have a responsibility to ensure the information is correct? I am having to email and ring providers to confirm the errors in order to dispute them, which obviously takes time as during the current pandemic my issues are not deemed as urgent, although are affecting my ability to successfully apply for credit!0

If you have suffered financial losses as a result, complain to them and ask for money, that usually encourages firms to think about getting things sorted

My OH had this issue with Equifax, it seems their agents have great difficulty grasping simple English.
If someone else' data is appearing on your credit file, it isn't the responsibility of the creditor / provider to fix; it's up to the credit reference agency.
I helped OH raise this with Equifax, they completely screwed up their duties, I helped him raise a formal complaint, and within the month they'd corrected everything, removed all trace of the third parties from his file, and given him £200 goodwill gesture.0
