Parking Eye Ticket but signage unclear

  • Why do they think they should not pay the PCN ? Poor lighting ? Poor signage ?
Exactly. I'm not sure if they saw the sign on entry (I don't think they did) but they certainly did not see any signs whilst inside the car park. Because of how late it was, they assumed it was free at that point (I'm not saying they were correct to make this assumption).

Should they just go ahead and pay up? They are super paranoid.

No, we don't like to say pay up!  Can they go back (park on-street for a few minutes, as they should have done all along) and walk up to the gateway on foot in the dark and take photos?  If the signs were unlit and it was dark, then there's no agreed contract.  Unlit signs in darkness = a strong defence.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

As above , it's either fight on poor and unlit signage (narrow street and avoiding obstacles) etc , or pay up , because I think that Parking Eye will have tied up all the other loose ends like landowner authority etc.

Judging by all the signage and the pdt machines then it's hard to argue the case unless they were as blind as a bat , which means that they should not be driving !!. There are many cases fought on signage , floor markings , lighting etc , but this case is one of the hardest to win from that Google maps video you posted

We have seen bad car parks many times , but a daylight view around that one does not help their case at all !
  • Thanks both. They will go and take pics tomorrow night hopefully.

Regarding the time limit, I know the stickies thread say the 14 day limit is a bribe and not a discount but if my friend is to pay, shouldn't they pay within this limit?

Decision for your amigo. As we never recommend paying, deadlines for doing so don't figure in our psyche.

Or as I always say , not my decision , the keeper is an adult , they know their finances , hopes and dreams , not my or our problem

One thing about being 18 or over is to make those adult decisions themselves , it's either pay up the £60 or whatever , or appeal , lose an appeal and pay say £100 or less , paying the PCN and signage figure , or risk court at around £175 as a loss , if the defendant loses in court

    So unless they blag a win , it's usually pay around £60 , or £100 , or £175

That is never our decision , but Barry Beavis paid up with 3 Court cases lost , for an overstay , non payment is bilking , if proven

I forgot to update here. My friend ended up paying the discounted rate - could not be bothered to drive down to check the signage and I couldn't help further. Thanks for all the help (apologies for the late update).

Thanks for letting us know, but one good reason for this to be left to the person being pursued, otherwise, like us, you too will have wasted your time.
