New patio quotes
Hi guys
Need a little sense check on quotes I’ve got to redo my back garden
Here are the photos
quotes are for
* Replace all patio slabs with new Textured Grey Paving slabs on both patios
* Create new patio on the right hand side at bottom of the garden. Same size and width as existing patio area.
* Remove existing path and create new path on right hand side.
* disposal of old slabs and moving good top soil to old path area to level ground. Disposal of the rest.
* Plain Gravel boards with 4 new fences on the left hand side
* New garden gate.
Q1 - £2900 with £1500 for Materials up front. 1 guy job with £100 discount.
Q2 - £3150 with payment on completion. 1 guy job.
Q3 - £2350 with 20% discount with £600 up front for when the Materials arrive on site and rest when job is done. 2 guy job.
All of them were great. COVID secure aka wearing masks etc and all came up with good ideas etc
What do we think? And is it normal to pay for materials up front

I wouldn't expect to pay for materials upfront especially when what you need is so little. It means they aren't a business with the financial back up of regular work or an account with the local building supplier.I can only give you a guide to the quote I got today. £840 to lift and relay 28 slabs, drop a main drain cover and two smaller ones and cut a circular centre for the slab to fit over by local building company.I had 2 top quality posts, post toppers and fence panels with trellis top fitted for £250 including materials. 1 good quality panel fitted and (trellis arbour with posts which I had) for £160 inc the panel. He even put the rose up and replaced the fairy lights lol.3 differnt people, with payment on completion. So even looking for the extra materials and some hard core I'd have thought around £2,000 plus a couple of fence panels and some slabs, a few gravel boards and hard core which isn't much money£2350 sounds ok with the new path and patio if they are going to come and do it in one go. £600 for materials sounds pricey but if you're having new slabs and relocating the path maybe that's where it comes in. Have you priced up the materials from the net or a local supplier. Builders merchants are open. They might even price it up for you if you have the list and just ask for the cost and what else you might need.Basic concrete slabs are from £3-£6 for 60x60. Fence panels cheapest £15 to good ones £30.Frankly the covid safe isn't so much of an importance if they are outside and you keep your distance. The virus disappates in the air and is quickly destroyed by sunlight.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on
The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

My wife must have expensive taste. We were quoted £60 a sqm for some stone she liked at the builders merchant and we needed 110sqm. In the end paid £38 a sqm.1

It uploaded before I finished about 5 years ago paid just over £1000 for an area of about 30sqm. In basic slabs which I thought was good value as it included having a tree stump ground out.1
