Delays with House Sale - what should I do?

Hi,
I am the PoA acting for my mum and am selling 2 of the properties she owns.
One is in England and has had an offer made and I have accepted it. There is no chain.
I am using DC Law for the conveyancing. I cannot get through to them on the phone and they take a long time to reply to emails (or don't at all).
When I look back through my emails, I see that I appointed DC Law on 20 August (after the offer was accepted) so 5 months have passed. I am not an expert but this seems unnecessarily long and is effectively costing my mum money.
I am starting to think that I should terminate the contract with DC law, without any payment from me, and appoint another firm that has capacity to do the legal work in a 4 week period.
I feel a bit alone in this and don't really know what to do. Does anyone have any advice?

What are the buyers up to? Assuming you sold via estate agents, what are they saying? Although lack of contact is poor, the hold-up isn't necessarily with your lawyers.2

The estate agent has said that they have been chasing DC Law too for a while and had to escalate to a manager to get a little info from them before xmas. DC Law are the lawyers that the estate agent website suggests when you use them so I think they may be careful with what they say.
The DC Law web portal has had "buyer's solicitor queries" flagged for several weeks and I only got an email from DC law with some rudimentary questions from the seller's lawyer via DC law this week, which I replied to but haven't heard anything further.

We get lots of complaints about DC Law on this forum. Their Trustpilot reviews also reveal that your experience with them is a very common one.
The EA recommends DC Law to you because they get paid to, not because they think they are great solicitors. Never hire a solicitor based on EA advice, always do your own research.2 -
