I'm looking to book a holiday to Dubai for next Christmas (fingers crossed). Has anyone used VRBO, I've found an apartment on their site but the reviews for the company don't look too good.
Thanks

ive used VRBO (homeaway as was) before for accomodation in Spain. Never had a problem, but i always look at the reviews and never book anything with less than 6 recent ones. same goes for airbnb.1

Used VRBO in USA about 15 times and never had a problem yet, in fact last time with the new VRBO app, we could message between ourselves and the owner very easily.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy1

I cancelled it last Wednesday afternoon and the money was back in my account Friday morning1 -
We have used VRBO in Europe a number of times without issues - HOWEVER, we recently reserved something and had to cancel -- within the 100% refund window explicitely advertised on their website AND on the confirmation communications. The host (which is a company, rather than an individual) is refusing to honour the cancellation policy they chose on the VRBO platform. It's been an absolute nightmare - VRBO are 'guaranteeing' that we will be refunded 100%, but the host is refusing to comply and VRBO are not doing anything, as far as we can tell. In future we are going to avoid as this means that even formal and explicit conditions advertised on their website cannot be trusted, and you have no real recourse when things go wrong.
