I have recently received a letter from my fathers solicitor who dealt with his estate when he passed away in 2016.
There is unclaimed funds within a bank account/savings ( unknown ) that the bank have written to the solicitors asking for further info.
I was obviously unaware of this, I have phoned the bank and they have requested a death certificate and covering letter.
This I can provide and will do so without involving the solicitor to avoid any costs from them.
This has just left me wondering how do you go about checking if there are other unclaimed funds sat in savings accounts or Isas etc.
Would anyone have any ideas, I’m intrigued to see if there is a data base, search engine or something to check?
Many thanks in advance

This happened with an estate my wife was the residual beneficiary for. Came out of the blue 7 years after death. It had to be dealt with with the solicitors as they were the executors and had to sort out the IHT that was due on it.1

Unfortunately the money saving expert link above for reclaim-lost-assets-free only applies to personal accounts. It wouldn’t allow me to search for someone else.0

If you were an executor of your father's will, you can use the link above. If not, your solicitor can - and it's not going to take long (i.e. shouldn't cost you much) for them to complete the necessary information.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1
