zero daily charge for electricity

Options
i have inherited a bungalow that is going through very slow probate but we still have bills for standing daily charge and as we are using approx 15kw on night lights we have to pay the full bill is there a company that will only charge for the electric or one with a small daily charge i have looked at comparisson sites but they dont have a filter for no standing daily charge option
many thanks

If you have 15kW of lighting the whole neighbourhood will be bright as day !
If you mean that your monthly consumption is 15kWh at present then just bung say 140kWh annual consumption into the Citizens Advice and 'Which? Switch' comparison sites and see what comes up as the cheapest.

I guess it's possible to be running up 15 KWh a day with just lighting (20 x 60w bulbs x 12 hours a day would do it) but that would seem to be somewhat of an overkill just to show some lights for security and as Gerry says it would be like Blackpool illuminations..  Are you sure there isn't anything else inadvertently left such as an Immersion heater or a panel heater?

You do need to clarify over what time period this 15KWh is being consumed.
If it's over a week rather than daily then using standard tariff rates of say 17p/KWh and 25p a day SC then that would be costing around £18 a month of which £7.50 would be the SC.  If you found a tariff that had no SC the unit rate would likely be higher (20p plus?) so your savings would probably only be £5-6 a month.  Even if the probate dragged on for year you'd only be looking at £70 odd saving.

If that 15 KWh is used over a month then it really isn't worth getting bothered about .

What are the monthly bills showing for the total electric cost?

I think the "no standing charge" contracts are a thing of the past - I certainly have not been able to find any for the last couple of years.

Ebico used to do them for years, originally with SSE and then with Robin Hood.... until RobinHood ceased recently, now taken over by BG, but BG have honoured one or two zero standing charge tariffs (only for the year), but those aren't for new customers.
Gerry1's suggestion is probably the best way to find anything that might be out there.

Edit: If you can't find one, don't just go by the savings that a comparison site gives, but look at the detailed tariffs that those give. There are some with much lower daily charges than others. Do your own sums and see what works out cheapest for your usage.
