Does the MoneyGram web site actually work?

Trying to send money to a UK Debit Card, but whenever I enter the destination card details, I just get "We're sorry! Something has gone wrong on our end. Please try again." and I can proceed no further.
Tried a couple of different debit cards, same message.
Tried a few different browsers, but only Firefox seems to work with the site at all. (Even Chrome doesn't display the forms properly and is unusable).

  • I don't know the answer but does it accept a payment to a debit card? - OR do you have to pay an account sort code and account number for the UK.

I believe you can use the sort code/account number, but it costs money. Sending to a Debit Card is fee-free.
It sounds perverse, but yes, they actually send the money to a debit card (or claim to - I can't get it to work!)

  • Can I ask then if it is a UK to UK transaction why not do it as a faster payment from a bank account?

I have a specific reason for wanting to use MoneyGram.
  • You don't want somebody to know that you have sent them money?
I take it Moneygram wil show as Moneygram on their statement followed by a reference but no sender name?
