US company pre-order rights

Hiya,
Pre-ordered an item from US company last year. They seem to have been affected by Covid and in October a letter on their website said they were sorting out their finances but no communication since, so appears they may have gone bust. Paid the full amount up front with a debit card. Do I have any rights? Could my bank help? Is there any chance I can get money back?

You state it was a pre-order... when was the order meant to be delivered?

Your bank may well be willing to put through a chargeback, the merchant may allow it or contest it in which case the card network will decide if the refund should be given or not.  If you cannot show the company is in administration/insolvent and the date for the goods has not yet passed then the bank may say its too early to do a chargeback (some banks are oddly reluctant to do chargebacks and require some pushing)
