TV with recorder function

Options
Is there such a thing as a TV with a recording function included.  But this recording function mustn't need a wifi connection.  The TV is for use in my touring caravan, hence the no wifi request.  Or........can anyone give me a consumption figure of wifi, for example, for an hour's programme?  I do have a mifi unit for accessing the internet.
TIA
David.

Modern smart tvs usually have the facility to record to an external usb hard drive but whether this will be available with smaller caravan size tvs might take some research. What are you planning on watching - many on demand services & streaming services such as BBC iplayer , Netflix etc allow you to download content to a laptop or tablet to watch off line. (Download at home and watch when you want with no internet needed)

On demand and catch-up services require the internet, I think, but it's just recording I'm asking about.  It means that at night I can go out but record stuff while I'm out.  At the moment I can record on a separate Humax box, but in a new caravan, there is no ledge on which to put the Humax box.

An hours worth of TV could be as little as 200MB or 10GB+ depending on the resolution and the bitrate.
What do you need to record?

None of our TVs are brand new, but they all (bar one very cheap Tesco small screen) have as standard the option to record to USB stick or USB hard drive.  All Panasonic.
I haven't checked latest models but don't see any reason they would exclude that feature.  If it is no longer possible, then look for a used model at charity shop.

Depends on what you call small - my Toshiba 32" TV will record to a USB device, or pause TV to it. As far as I know it will only record what you're watching, as it only has a single tuner. I only really use it for pausing so I having tried the record feature, not sure what it does if you set it to record something while the TV is on standby for example.

Many can record whilst you are not watching anything its just recording one thing and watching another programme live that tends to require a dual decoder/tuner built in... recording one live programme whilst watching a pre-recorded programme probably falls into a bit of a grey area but in theory most should be able to do so.

Thanks for all your help, I think the issue has been resolved.  I'm now considering a caravan with the required cupboard top, which will take both the TV and also the Humax box.
    Thanks again.
