I think we now have to get used to 6 monthly updates to Windows. Its how MS are going like it or not. Eventually you will be "forced" onto the new version

I would argue you see 100x more posts saying "this update is crap and has broken my computer" than "this upgrade is great, my computer is better than ever" type posts.

Most documented "problems" occur because of a specific set of circumstances - hardware/software or something else.  It doesn't necessarily mean you'll have an issue during/after upgrade, indeed most people probably won't.

Well this morning I bit the bullet and resumed updates, as common sense said that it was futile to keep pausing them and I couldn't do that forever anyway.

Of course version 2004 was still sitting there waiting to spring into action and so I just let it, thinking I could always revert back if it went wrong.

It did take about 2.5 hours in total, but so far everything seems to be okay, so fingers crossed.

Many thanks for all the advice and straight talking, greatly appreciated.

I expect I will soon be advised that the latest one is ready to download and install, but this time I will just let it.

As I have commented many times before, my newest machine is 2011 vintage and oldest 2007, 7 in total all happily running W10 20H2.  All upgraded to W10 from XP, Vista and 7 with only 2 falling over on the original W10 install, one for an incompatible wifi adaptor - which is happily running in another of the pack - and one which just fell over and had to go for a clean manual install.  Never had any major problems but a few minor glitches which have been fixed on the next update.
JFDI as my old boss used to say :D

    Thank you.
I was rather hoping to skip 2004 and go straight to 20H2 but never mind, it will undoubtedly come along one of these days and I shall embrace it without delay🙂

Thank you for the information, but I think I will wait until it is offered. I have had enough anxiety with updates for a while.
