If someone asked me I would have to say that I don't know - there are several ways I have used to represent my name. I suppose I should really contact the call centre to find outI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!1 -
Aha yes, this was commented when COP was first introduced. I think some people found their names were shown in different styles on bank statements, cheque books and debit cards - confusion all round!

There were no suggestions. However, I suppose the whole basis of this thread is the difference between theory and practice!2. The details partially match
If you’ve got a partial match, you’ll be given the actual name or account type of the account holder, so you can check and update the details, or contact the person or organisation you’re trying to pay.1 -
On several occasions, I have needed to set myself up as a payee with different banks. It does amaze me that I have so many different versions of my name with the same bank.
Debit card, online banking, personal correspondence, bank statements cheque book. I have only ever given each bank my name once but they keep finding new ways to display my name. And all this before adding in my wife’s name on our joint accounts.
A quick check on my credit reports also throw up variations on my name. I accept that having three forenames doesn’t help but once I entered my first name and surname and cop displayed all three forenames and asked if this was correct. I doubt that many third parties would recognise my middle names.1 -
