M&S Furniture delivery

There is currently a warning at the top of every 'add to bag' page stating
We offer free furniture delivery on every order. We will observe social distancing throughout your delivery, to a room of your choice where applicable. We are currently unable to provide unpacking and assembly services.
We were certainly aware of that back in June when we ordered items, although, of course, I have no idea if the warning was there when you made your order.
If you phone customer services I'm sure they will be able to tell you the extent of assembly that is required for your items - then you can make a measured decision.
#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3661 -
M&S is more a final assembly process than full flat pack. Assembly should therefore be straightforwards. Keep the instructions should you need to dismantle.
If M & S don't unpack they won't take the waste. I would however want the delivery staff to wait until you have unpacked the items and checked for damage. If not write in the delivery note that the items weren't checked before acceptance.1 -
Depends on local rules, but certainly in some places indoors visits to occupied properties are restricted to essential work e.g. repairs. Sticking furniture together (which you could do yourself anyway) seems an unnecessary visit. Are trades people not allowed to work during lockdown? Don't really see any difference between a carpenter and someone putting furniture together.0 -
From what I understand in England & Wales you can still do so as normal as you are unable to work from home, Scotland is essential only, no idea about NI.davidmcn said:

I ordered from M and S in Dec, I didn’t see that warning, I did see plenty of “ we will assemble it for you”. I have also received the same email as the OP altho it makes no difference to me as I had planned on DIY anywayJGB1955 said:There is currently a warning at the top of every 'add to bag' page statingWe offer free furniture delivery on every order.
